Due to the Gulf War, there is a shortage of gas cylinders in India. People have to stand in queues for hours to get gas cylinders. Even after booking gas, they do not get cylinders for 15 days, but in this difficult time, a very happy and comforting news has come for the common man. To ensure uninterrupted supply of domestic gas and fuel, Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has geared up and has showered special offers for its customers. A special scheme has been announced for those taking new connections. To attract new customers, free gas worth Rs 500 and rewards up to Rs 1 lakh have been kept.

Given the country's rising energy demand and fuel prices, this significant decision has been made to provide customers with a cheaper and safer option. The government had clearly stated that those with LPG connections should be given priority if they purchase a PNG domestic piped gas connection. Following this, Mahanagar has now officially announced this. Furthermore, the company has clarified the recent frauds being committed against many people in the name of Mahanagar Gas.

What is the plan after all?

Starting March 16, 2026, all new PNG gas connection registrations will receive free gas worth ₹500. Each customer who registers will receive a 'scratch card' with which they can win cash prizes ranging from ₹250 to ₹1 lakh. Additionally, customers in new buildings will receive a discount of up to ₹1,000 on their gas bills. This service is offered by Mahanagar in the cities of Mumbai, Thane, Mira-Bhayander, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Chitradurga, Davangere, Latur, and Dharashiv.

Upon registering on the website, each customer will receive an immediate discount of ₹500, and the minimum fee will be waived if not used. Furthermore, a zero advance registration fee will soon be introduced. The company stated that payment will be made only after the transaction is completed. Registration fees are being waived for commercial customers. The company also stated that it will install downstream infrastructure at its own expense.
