Rafi sahab sang his first song at the age of just 13. In his golden career, he has sung more than 25 thousand hit songs in many languages. Mohammad Rafi was given the golden opportunity to sing for the first time by KL Sehgal during a concert in Lahore. In 1948, he gave his voice to Rajendra Krishnan's song 'Suno Suno Ae Duniya Walon Bapu Ki Ye Amar Kahani'. This song was liked by the people as well as former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. He was happy and invited Rafi to his house and asked him to sing. It is said that after Rafi heard a fakir's song at his brother's shop, he vowed to become a musician.

Rafi sahab has sung many different types of songs in his career. He has also sung sad songs. Everyone's eyes became moist after singing the sad songs. He sang one such superhit song, while singing which he himself cried. Rafi sahab cried a lot while singing the song 'Babul ki duaayen leti ja' from the film 'Neel Kamal'. One reason behind this was that his daughter's marriage was fixed a day before the recording. The wedding was after two days. While singing this song, he felt that it was time for his daughter's farewell. Mohammad Rafi was awarded the National Award for this song.

Mohammad Rafi also showed his acting skills in films like 'Laila Majnu' and 'Jugnu'. He sang many superhit songs. He said goodbye to the world on 31 July 1980. It is said that when he died, it was raining heavily, despite this, more than 10 thousand people attended his funeral.
