Turn Media Visibility Off.
2. Disable Auto-Download for Specific Chats or Groups (Android)
If you want to block media from a particular contact or group:
-
Open Settings in WhatsApp.
-
Go to Chats and select the contact or group.
-
Tap the contact or group name.
-
Under Media Visibility, select No and tap OK.
3. Disable Auto-Download on iPhone
For iPhone users, follow these steps:
-
Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.
-
Tap Chats.
-
Turn off Save to Photos.
4. Disable Auto-Download for Specific Chats or Groups (iPhone)
To block media from a specific chat or group:
-
Open Settings in WhatsApp.
-
Go to Chats and select the contact or group.
-
Tap the contact or group name.
-
Under Save to Photos, select Never.
5. Hide WhatsApp Photos Using a Folder
You can also hide WhatsApp media from your gallery:
-
Download a File Explorer app from Google Play Store.
-
Open the app and navigate to the WhatsApp Images folder.
-
Create a new file named .nomedia (include the dot).
-
To view hidden photos later, simply delete the .nomedia file.
Tip: Disabling auto-download saves storage, reduces clutter in your gallery, and prevents unwanted media from automatically filling your phone.
