WhatsApp: Stop Your Gallery from Filling Up with Unwanted Photos and Videos

Is your WhatsApp gallery overflowing with unnecessary photos and videos? Deleting unwanted media every time can be frustrating. Fortunately, there’s a simple solution: disable the auto-download feature on WhatsApp.

1. Disable Auto-Download on Android

To stop all media from automatically downloading to your gallery:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

  2. Tap on Chats.

  3. Turn Media Visibility Off.

2. Disable Auto-Download for Specific Chats or Groups (Android)

If you want to block media from a particular contact or group:

  1. Open Settings in WhatsApp.

  2. Go to Chats and select the contact or group.

  3. Tap the contact or group name.

  4. Under Media Visibility, select No and tap OK.

3. Disable Auto-Download on iPhone

For iPhone users, follow these steps:

  1. Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

  2. Tap Chats.

  3. Turn off Save to Photos.

4. Disable Auto-Download for Specific Chats or Groups (iPhone)

To block media from a specific chat or group:

  1. Open Settings in WhatsApp.

  2. Go to Chats and select the contact or group.

  3. Tap the contact or group name.

  4. Under Save to Photos, select Never.

5. Hide WhatsApp Photos Using a Folder

You can also hide WhatsApp media from your gallery:

  1. Download a File Explorer app from Google Play Store.

  2. Open the app and navigate to the WhatsApp Images folder.

  3. Create a new file named .nomedia (include the dot).

  4. To view hidden photos later, simply delete the .nomedia file.
