WhatsApp has introduced a noise cancellation feature for select beta users, aimed at improving voice clarity during audio and video calls in noisy environments. The feature, first noticed in March 2026, filters out background noise such as traffic and wind in real time without affecting the speaker’s voice.
Who Can Use It?
The noise cancellation function is currently available to Android beta users running version 26.14.1. According to WABetaInfo, if only one participant in a call has the feature enabled, their voice will be clearer to others, but full effect requires both users to have the feature activated. WhatsApp has not confirmed an exact timeline for a wider rollout to all users.
Additional Updates
WhatsApp is also testing new enhancements, including:
- A dedicated app for Apple CarPlay, currently in beta via TestFlight.
- The ability to manually locate and delete large files in chats through the Manage Storage option.
The noise cancellation update is expected to be particularly beneficial for users who travel frequently or make calls in busy, outdoor environments, enhancing call clarity and overall user experience.
