Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will improve the user calling experience. The new feature we're talking about is noise cancellation for voice and video calls.
According to the latest reports, the instant messaging app is reportedly working on its own in-app noise cancellation for voice and video calls. The feature was spotted on the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android. Note that this feature is currently under development.
Similar to the noise cancellation feature available on earphones, this feature is said to provide clean and clear sound during voice and video calls by automatically filtering out background noise.
This feature will be useful when WhatsApp users are in crowded places like traffic stops and marketplaces, or in windy environments. This feature will help users hear the people they are talking to clearly.
Leaked screenshots of the feature reveal that it can be toggled on and off as needed. The noise cancellation button can be found in the call window. It's enabled by default. You can turn it off by clicking the button if you prefer.
Currently, WhatsApp is testing the device with beta users, and it will be rolled out to more users once successful testing results and smooth operation without any bugs. This means the noise cancellation feature could become available to all WhatsApp users on Android in the coming weeks or months.
