What is Two-Step Verification?

Two-Step Verification is an additional security feature of WhatsApp. Once activated, whenever your WhatsApp account is re-registered on a new device, it will ask for a 6-digit PIN, in addition to the OTP sent to your phone number. This increases your account security by an additional level.

How to turn on Two-Step Verification?

Activating it is quite easy. First, open WhatsApp on your phone. On Android, tap the three dots at the top to go to Settings. iPhone users can open Settings directly.

Now tap the Account option and then select Two-step verification. Here, you'll see the Turn on option. After tapping it, WhatsApp will ask you to create a 6-digit PIN.

Choose a PIN that's easy for you to remember, but not so difficult that someone else could guess. WhatsApp will then ask you to re-enter the PIN.

You may also be prompted to add an email address. Adding an email address is useful because it can help recover your account if you forget your PIN. Finally, follow the instructions to complete the process.

Do not share your PIN with anyone

Even after turning on Two-Step Verification, caution is still necessary. Don't share your 6-digit PIN with anyone and avoid clicking on suspicious links or messages.
