The World Championship of Legends (WCL) 2025, which began on July 18, has delivered exciting cricket so far. But for Team India Champions, the tournament has been nothing short of a nightmare.
Current Standings: India in Danger Zone
Six teams are competing in WCL 2025. South Africa Champions have been the standout performers and currently top the points table with three wins in three matches, defeating West Indies, India, and England. Their all-round performance in batting, bowling, and fielding has made them clear semi-final contenders.
Points Table Snapshot (as of now):
| Rank | Team | Matches | Wins | Losses | No Result | Points |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | South Africa Champions | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 6 |
| 2 | Australia Champions | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 3 |
| 3 | Pakistan Champions | 2 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 3 |
| 4 | West Indies Champions | 3 | 1 | 2 | 0 | 2 |
| 5 | England Champions | 4 | 0 | 3 | 1 | 1 |
| 6 | India Champions | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 |
What Went Wrong for India?
India Champions' opening match against Pakistan was cancelled due to political tensions after six Indian players refused to play. In their second match, they suffered a heavy 88-run defeat against South Africa. With just one point from two matches, they’re now at the bottom of the table.
Must-Win Situation for India
With limited matches left in the group stage, even a single more defeat could knock India out of the tournament. The team must win all remaining games and hope for favorable outcomes in other fixtures to stand a chance at qualifying for the semi-finals.
India Champions next face Australia Champions on July 26, in what will be a virtual knockout for them.
