Swedish carmaker Volvo is set to unveil its all-new electric SUV, the Volvo EX60, on January 21, 2026. The upcoming model is generating global attention as it will be Volvo’s first electric vehicle to feature Google’s advanced Gemini AI.
The EX60 is expected to make its way to multiple markets, including India, and will play a key role in Volvo’s expanding electric portfolio.
Google Gemini AI: A first for any EV
The biggest highlight of the Volvo EX60 is the integration of Google Gemini, a next-generation artificial intelligence system. Unlike traditional voice assistants that rely on fixed commands, Gemini AI allows natural, human-like conversation with the car.
Drivers can speak normally to:
-
Find destinations and plan road trips
-
Ask navigation-related questions
-
Check if luggage will fit in the boot
-
Get ideas or information while driving
All of this can be done hands-free and eyes-on-road, significantly reducing distraction and improving driving safety.
Teaser reveals impressive range and charging tech
Volvo recently released a teaser of the EX60, confirming several key specifications. According to the company, the SUV will offer a WLTP-certified range of up to 810 km on a single charge, making it Volvo’s longest-range electric vehicle so far.
The EX60 will sit between the EX40 and EX90 in Volvo’s global EV lineup.
Ultra-fast charging and smart battery system
The Volvo EX60 will support ultra-fast charging up to 400 kW, enabling the SUV to gain around 340 km of range in just 10 minutes.
A major technological highlight is its smart battery management system, developed in collaboration with Breathe Battery Technologies. This system uses intelligent algorithms to optimise charging speed, battery health, and overall efficiency.
The EX60 will also be offered with all-wheel-drive capability, further enhancing performance and stability.
What this means for Volvo
With the EX60, Volvo is combining long-range electric mobility, cutting-edge AI, and advanced charging technology. The integration of Google Gemini positions Volvo as a leader in AI-driven vehicles, setting a new benchmark for smart electric SUVs.
