Volkswagen to Launch 5 Cars in India by 2026; Tayron R-Line to Take on Toyota Fortuner

Volkswagen has confirmed a big India push for 2026 with five new launches, one every quarter, spanning SUVs, sedans, and hatchbacks in the premium segment. Leading the charge will be the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line, set to debut in Q1 2026.

Positioned above the Tiguan R-Line, the 7-seat Tayron R-Line will be VW’s flagship SUV for India. Built on the MQB EVO platform, it brings a 5-star Euro NCAP rating, a longer wheelbase for third-row comfort, and high-end features like massage seats, a 15-inch touchscreen, Matrix LED headlamps, and a panoramic sunroof.

Unlike the Tiguan R-Line (CBU), the Tayron R-Line will be assembled in India, helping keep prices competitive. Expected pricing is ₹43–50 lakh (ex-showroom), putting it squarely against the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian, and MG Majesty.
