Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast is set to strengthen its presence in India with the launch of a new 7-seater electric MPV on April 15. The company has already opened bookings for the upcoming model, allowing customers to reserve the vehicle with an initial amount of ₹21,000.
Interested buyers can book the MPV either through VinFast’s network of around 50 showrooms across the country or via the company’s official online platform. The final pricing, however, will be announced on the day of launch.
A Strategic Move in India’s Growing EV Market
VinFast’s latest offering will expand its lineup, which already includes models like the VF6 and VF7. With this launch, the company aims to tap into the growing demand for electric vehicles in India, particularly in the family-oriented 7-seater segment.
The new MPV is expected to compete with models such as the BYD eMax 7 and the upcoming Kia Carens Clavis EV, intensifying competition in this niche category.
Focus on Space and Comfort
Designed with a focus on practicality and comfort, the MPV follows a “Golden Ratio” design philosophy, which optimizes interior space. The wheels are positioned closer to the corners, allowing for a more spacious cabin layout.
The vehicle is tailored for large families, offering comfortable seating across all three rows. This makes it suitable for long journeys as well as daily commuting needs.
Battery and Range
The electric MPV is expected to feature a 60.13 kWh battery pack. According to company claims, it can deliver a driving range of over 500 kilometers on a single charge. This range positions it as a practical option for long-distance travel and intercity use.
Rising Competition in the EV Segment
India’s electric vehicle market is witnessing rapid growth, with increasing consumer interest and expanding infrastructure. The introduction of a 7-seater electric MPV adds a new dimension to the segment, which currently has limited options.
VinFast’s upcoming launch is likely to offer customers more choice and push competition further, especially in the family EV category.
