UPSC ESE 2027: Registration begins for 480 posts, here's how to apply

The Union Public Service Commission has started the registration process for UPSC ESE 2027. Candidates who wish to apply for the Engineering Services Exam 2027 can check the direct link on the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in.


The last date to apply for the exam is October 6, 2026. The preliminary exam will be held on January 31, 2027. The main exam will be held on June 18, 2027.

The UPSC ESE Prelims exam will be held in two sessions: the first from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM and the second from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Paper I will be held in the first shift, and Paper II in the second shift.

The exam will have questions carrying 500 marks, out of which 200 marks will be for General Studies and Engineering Aptitude and 300 marks will be for Engineering Discipline.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to apply for the exam must have a degree in Engineering from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or established by an Act of Parliament or other educational institutions declared to be deemed as Universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956.

The age limit of the candidate should be between 21 years to 30 years as on 1st January 2027 i.e. he/she should not have been born before 2nd January 1997 and after 1st January 2006.

Application Fee
The application fee is ₹200/- for all candidates. Female/SC/ST/PWBD category candidates are exempted from paying the application fee. The fee can be paid through any bank or by using Visa/Master/RuPay credit/debit cards/UPI payment methods.

Candidates who are eligible to apply can follow these steps to do it easily.

Visit the official UPSC website, upsc.gov.in.
Click on the UPSC ESE Exam 2027 registration link on the home page.
A new page will open where candidates will be required to register.
Once registered, fill out the application form.
Pay the application fee.
Click Submit and download the confirmation page.
Keep a hard copy for future reference.
