The IPL 2026 auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16th. This time, 350 players will be in the fray. Six players will be up for grabs in the first set of auctions. Cameron Green is expected to command a big bid. Prithvi Shaw and Sarfaraz Khan will also be in the auction.
The auction date for the IPL 2026 season is nearing. This mega event will be held on December 16th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, where the fate of a total of 350 players will be at stake. The auction will begin with Set 1, which includes six big names who will be the first to go under the hammer.
Players included in Set 1 and their base price
The six players in Set 1, which will begin the auction, include New Zealand's Devon Conway (base price ₹2 crore), young Australian opener Jake-Fraser McGurk (base price ₹2 crore), star Australian all-rounder Cameron Green (base price ₹2 crore), Indian batsman Sarfaraz Khan (base price ₹7.5 million), South African veteran David Miller (base price ₹2 crore), and explosive Indian opener Prithvi Shaw (base price ₹7.5 million). These players are expected to attract the highest bids.
Big bids expected for Cameron Green
In Set 1, the focus will be on Australia's star all-rounder Cameron Green, who has registered solely as a batsman this season. Green, who missed last season's mega auction due to injury, could prove to be the most expensive player this season with a base price of ₹2 crore.
On the other hand, Indian opener Prithvi Shaw and batsman Sarfaraz Khan are both entering the auction with a base price of ₹75 lakh. Shaw, who went unsold in the last mega auction, has a high chance of being bought this time around, while Devon Conway's bidding seems somewhat uncertain due to his poor form. David Miller is expected to find a major buyer. This auction will be special in several ways, as the auction will proceed only after bids have been placed on these six players from Set 1.
