Marital Dispute: A horrifying example of how stress and lack of communication in a marriage can prove fatal has been witnessed in Uttar Pradesh. Frustrated by his inability to have sex with his wife, a 37-year-old man cut off his own private part. However, doctors have successfully reattached the severed part.
18 years of marriage and 8 years of separation
Ghasi Ram (37), the main culprit in the incident, alleges that he was married 18 years ago. For the past eight years, his wife, Manjari Devi, had completely refused to have physical relations with him. According to Ghasi Ram, this unspoken distance had left her mentally ill.
How did this horrific incident happen?
Last night, Ghasi Ram returned home drunk and repeated his demand. When his wife refused, they had a heated argument. Driven by anger and frustration, Ghasi Ram went into the kitchen and stabbed himself with a sharp knife. He collapsed from the profuse bleeding.
Doctors’ miracle: limb reattached
Family members and neighbors rushed him to the hospital. A specialized team of doctors reattached the severed limb after hours of complex surgery. Doctors say Ghasi Ram is now out of danger and will be able to lead a normal married life in the future.
Wife’s side: Intoxication became the reason for the fight
Meanwhile, wife Manjari Devi has denied these allegations. She says her husband was very drunk that night, which is why she resisted. According to Manjari, Ghasi Ram is making false allegations against her to hide his own alcohol addiction and misdeeds.
Police investigation and expert opinion
Police have currently registered the case as a suicide attempt. Sociologists and psychologists believe the incident reflects a severe lack of awareness about marital counseling and mental health in society. Alcoholism may have further escalated the conflict.
