The "Exam" Escape: Bihar Bride Flees Wedding Festivities While Groom Waits at College Gate

In an incident that feels like a scene from a runaway bride movie, a wedding in Bihar’s Vaishali district ended in heartbreak and public embarrassment. Just two days after a grand ceremony, a newlywed bride disappeared from her husband’s side, leaving an entire village stunned and a reception feast untouched.

The marriage, which took place on April 30 in the Lalganj police station area, was initially a cause for celebration. Following traditional Hindu customs, the bride arrived at her in-laws' home in Bhatauli Bhagwan Panchayat on May 1. However, the joy was short-lived.

The Master Plan: A Fake Exam

On the very first night of her marriage, the bride approached her husband with a request. She claimed she had a crucial examination scheduled at Vaishali Women's College in Hajipur. Eager to support his wife's education, the groom agreed to take her to the center personally.

The next morning, the groom drove her to the college on his motorcycle. Upon reaching the gates, the bride played her final card:

  • The Excuse: She told her husband to wait outside while she went in to "grab a pen" and find her hall.

  • The Disappearance: Trusting her completely, the groom stood in the scorching sun for hours. It was only after the exam window closed and she failed to reappear that he realized something was terribly wrong. Investigations inside the campus revealed she had slipped out through a back exit.

Reception Rained Out by Scandal

The timing of the escape could not have been more tragic. Back at the groom’s home, preparations for the "Bahu-Bhoj" (wedding reception) were in full swing:

  • The house was beautifully decorated with flowers.

  • Confectioners had prepared a massive feast for arriving relatives.

  • Gifts and blessings were ready for the new couple.

Instead of a celebration, a heavy silence descended on the household as news of the elopement reached the guests. The food remained uneaten, and the family was left to face the sudden shift from festive cheer to public disgrace.

Love Affair or Forced Match?

The incident has become the talk of the town, with locals speculating that the bride was likely involved in a pre-existing love affair and used the exam as a strategic exit strategy. Others suggest a potential mismatch in the marriage as the reason for her flight.

The groom’s family has since approached the police to report the disappearance. As the search for the bride continues, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the complexities and occasional deceptions that can occur behind the facade of a "perfect" wedding.
