A major digital transformation for rail passengers has come into effect from March 1, 2026. The UTS mobile app, used for booking unreserved and local train tickets, has been discontinued. It has been replaced by the new RailOne app.
The entire ticket booking system has changed from today.
Starting March 1, 2026, ticket booking methods for Indian Railways passengers will change. The UTS mobile app, which was previously used to book unreserved, local, and platform tickets, has been officially discontinued. It has now been replaced by the new, all-in-one app, RailOne. The Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), the railway's IT arm, announced this on February 27.
UTS app discontinued, RailOne is the new platform
CRIS clarified that, effective March 1st, all services of the UTS app have been transferred to the RailOne app. This means that passengers will now need to download RailOne to book unreserved tickets, local tickets, and platform tickets. The RailOne app was launched by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav on July 1st, 2025. This app is designed to provide passengers with a variety of services on a single platform.
What will happen to the money in R-Wallet?
The biggest question is what will happen to the R-Wallet balance in the UTS app? According to the Railways, the R-Wallet amount will be transferred to the RailOne app. However, this requires that you register with RailOne using the same mobile number you used to create your account in the UTS app. Keep in mind that the R-Wallet balance is not transferable. This means that the old balance cannot be used if you change your mobile number. In such a situation, you can either purchase a ticket and exhaust the balance or surrender your wallet and receive a refund.
How to surrender R-Wallet?
If you want to close your R-Wallet, you need to go to the 'Profile' section of the app and select the 'Surrender Wallet' option. A code will then be sent to your registered mobile number. You can obtain a refund by visiting any UTS counter with this code and mobile number. However, a ₹30 clerkage charge will be deducted.
What will you get in RailOne app?
RailOne is a comprehensive app that offers UTS ticketing, live train tracking, complaint filing, e-catering, porter booking, and last-mile taxi booking. Reserved tickets will remain available through IRCTC.
