Tamannaah Bhatia’s Trainer Calls This ‘Healthy Breakfast’ the Worst — Here’s Why

In today’s fitness trends, foods like smoothies, granola, and low-fat options are often labeled as “healthy breakfasts.” But according to Siddharth Singh, not everything that looks healthy actually supports your body the right way. In fact, he recently sparked debate by calling a very common Indian breakfast—besan chilla—the “worst,” leaving many people surprised.

However, his point wasn’t that besan chilla is completely unhealthy. Instead, he explained that people often misunderstand what makes a meal truly nutritious. While gram flour (besan) does contain some protein, it may not be sufficient on its own to keep you full or energized for long. When prepared in a basic way, it can end up being more carbohydrate-heavy and less balanced than people assume.

The real issue, according to him, lies in how the dish is made. Many people use excess oil while cooking, which increases calorie intake without adding nutritional value. Also, eating it without any additional protein source can lead to quicker hunger, low energy, and unnecessary snacking later in the day.

To fix this, he suggests making small but smart changes rather than avoiding the dish altogether. Adding Greek yogurt alongside or within the batter can significantly boost protein content and make the meal more filling. For those focusing on fitness goals, even adding a scoop of protein powder is an option to turn it into a high-protein breakfast. Reducing oil while cooking is another key step to keep it healthier.

The broader message is simple—no food is inherently bad, but the way you prepare and combine it matters. A balanced breakfast should include adequate protein, controlled fats, and enough nutrients to keep you satisfied for a few hours. When done right, even a traditional dish like besan chilla can become a powerful and healthy start to your day rather than a misleading “healthy” choice.
