SRH vs DC: ₹23 Crore Star Heinrich Klaasen Emerges as Biggest Threat to Delhi Capitals

The 31st match of the Indian Premier League 2026 between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals promises to be a closely contested encounter, especially considering their evenly matched record in Hyderabad. Out of seven matches played at this venue, both teams have won three each, with one ending without a result. However, this time, a key player in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s lineup could tilt the balance.

While much of the opposition’s strategy usually revolves around containing Abhishek Sharma, the real danger for Delhi Capitals lies elsewhere. The spotlight is firmly on Heinrich Klaasen, the explosive wicketkeeper-batter who was retained by SRH for a massive ₹23 crore. Klaasen has been in exceptional form in IPL 2026, scoring 283 runs in six innings with three half-centuries, and currently sits among the top run-scorers of the season.

What makes Klaasen particularly dangerous is not just his current form but his dominant record against Delhi’s bowling attack. His strike rate against Lungi Ngidi stands at an astonishing 243, while he scores at 192 against Kuldeep Yadav and 180 against Axar Patel. Notably, Ngidi and Kuldeep have never dismissed him in the IPL, and Axar has managed to get him out only once in ten innings. Adding to Delhi’s concerns, Klaasen has not been dismissed by any spinner in IPL 2026 so far, which further reduces the effectiveness of their spin attack.

In contrast, Delhi Capitals have had better control over Abhishek Sharma. Captain Axar Patel has dismissed him twice in limited deliveries, restricting his scoring rate significantly. This makes Klaasen the primary threat going into the match, and how Delhi handles him could very well decide the outcome of this crucial clash.
