Skoda’s Big EV Push: Peaq 7-Seater Electric SUV to Launch in 2026, Set to Challenge Creta EV

Skoda is gearing up for a major transformation in its electric vehicle (EV) strategy, and the spotlight is firmly on its upcoming flagship electric SUV, the Skoda Peaq. The Czech automaker has officially confirmed that the production version of its much-talked-about Vision 7S concept will be called Skoda Peaq. This 7-seater electric SUV is scheduled to make its global debut in summer 2026 and is expected to enter markets like India soon after.

Globally, the Skoda Peaq will compete with premium electric SUVs such as the Mercedes-Benz GLB EV and Peugeot e-5008, while in India, it is likely to take on future models like the Hyundai Creta EV and other three-row electric SUVs. With this launch, Skoda aims to position itself as a serious player in the premium EV space.

Skoda Peaq: Brand’s Most Premium Electric SUV

Skoda has made it clear that the Peaq will sit at the top of its EV portfolio, making it more premium and expensive than the currently available Skoda Enyaq electric SUV. According to the company, the Peaq is designed to elevate Skoda’s core values—space, practicality, comfort, and innovation—to an entirely new level.

In an official statement, Skoda emphasized that the name “Peaq” underlines the importance of this model in the brand’s electric future. The SUV will represent Skoda’s vision of combining family-friendly practicality with cutting-edge electric mobility.

What to Expect from the Skoda Peaq EV

The Skoda Vision 7S concept, showcased earlier at the India Mobility Show, received widespread attention for its bold design and futuristic cabin. The production-ready Skoda Peaq is expected to stay largely true to this concept.

Measuring around 4.9 meters in length, the Peaq will be a three-row electric SUV with seating for seven passengers. It is expected to offer a spacious and versatile interior, making it suitable for both urban use and long family road trips.

While some radical elements of the concept—such as suicide doors, the absence of a B-pillar, and camera-based mirrors—may not make it to production due to safety regulations, Skoda is likely to retain the robust design language, premium materials, and minimalist cabin layout.

Battery, Range, and Performance

One of the most impressive aspects of the Skoda Peaq is its expected battery and range figures. The Vision 7S concept featured a massive 89kWh battery pack, which claimed a WLTP-certified range of over 600 km on a single charge. While final specifications will be revealed closer to launch, similar figures are expected in the production model.

Skoda has also confirmed that the Peaq will support ultra-fast charging of up to 200kW, allowing the battery to charge quickly and making long-distance travel more convenient. The SUV is expected to be offered in both:

  • RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) variants for efficiency

  • AWD (All-Wheel Drive) variants for enhanced performance and traction

India Launch Timeline and Competition

Globally, the Skoda Peaq will debut in 2026, while the India launch is expected around 2027. Once launched, it will compete with upcoming electric SUVs in the three-row and mid-to-premium segments, including future models from Hyundai, Kia, and other global brands.

With its long range, premium positioning, and practical 7-seat layout, the Skoda Peaq could become a strong alternative for buyers looking to move from ICE SUVs to electric mobility.
