Samsung has expanded its budget smartphone lineup in India with the launch of the Galaxy A08. The new handset is aimed at buyers looking for a large battery, a high-resolution camera and extended software support without moving into the premium price segment.
The Galaxy A08 combines a 6,000mAh battery with a 90Hz display, a 50MP primary camera and several software features designed to keep the phone useful for years.
Samsung Galaxy A08 price and availability
Samsung has introduced the Galaxy A08 in India in a single configuration with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. It is priced at ₹18,499.
The smartphone is available through Samsung's exclusive stores, major retail outlets, Samsung's online store and other online platforms.
The phone comes in three colour options: Dark Blue, Green and Silver.
Samsung is also offering no-cost EMI for up to six months on select bank cards, while certain NBFC partners provide installment options for up to nine months.
Six years of software and security updates
One of the biggest talking points of the Galaxy A08 is its long-term software support.
Samsung promises six generations of operating system upgrades along with six years of security updates. This could make the phone particularly attractive to buyers who don't want to replace their smartphone every two or three years.
The handset also gets Samsung Knox security, which is designed to protect sensitive information such as passwords, personal data and biometric credentials.
The Galaxy A08 also supports several AI-powered features, including Circle to Search 3.0, Google Gemini and Perplexity. Users can access certain AI functions through voice commands or by long-pressing the power button.
Samsung's Quick Share and Modes & Routines features are also included.
6.7-inch display with 90Hz refresh rate
The Galaxy A08 comes with a large 6.7-inch HD+ PLS LCD display.
The 90Hz refresh rate should make everyday interactions such as scrolling through social media, browsing websites and navigating menus feel smoother compared with standard 60Hz panels.
The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
MediaTek processor with expandable storage
The smartphone is powered by a MediaTek Helio G99+ processor paired with 4GB of RAM.
It comes with 64GB of built-in storage, but users can expand the available storage up to 2TB using a microSD card. This can be useful for people who store large numbers of photos, videos and apps on their phone.
50MP dual rear camera
For photography, the Galaxy A08 features a dual-camera setup at the rear.
The primary camera is a 50MP sensor with an f/1.8 aperture, accompanied by a 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP front camera handles selfies and video calls.
The camera setup is aimed at covering everyday photography needs rather than competing with more advanced multi-camera flagship systems.
6,000mAh battery with 25W charging
Battery life is another major highlight. The Galaxy A08 packs a large 6,000mAh battery and supports 25W fast charging.
Despite the large battery, the phone measures around 8mm in thickness. It also carries an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and light water splashes.
Is the Galaxy A08 worth considering?
At ₹18,499, the Galaxy A08 stands out mainly because of its combination of a large battery, 50MP camera, 90Hz display and unusually long software-support commitment.
For buyers who prioritize battery life and plan to keep their smartphone for several years, Samsung's six-year update promise could be one of the phone's biggest advantages.
