BCCI Central Contract: The BCCI has announced the central contracts for men's and women's cricketers for 2025-26. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have been demoted.
The BCCI has announced its central contracts for the 2025-26 season. Thirty players have been awarded contracts in the men's category, while 21 players are in the women's category. These contracts run from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. Shubman Gill, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja are in the men's Grade A category. Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma are in the women's Grade A category.
Rohit and Virat in Grade B
Two key players of the Indian team, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, were earlier in A+ grade. That grade has been abolished. Virat and Rohit have now moved to B. Both these players have retired from Test as well as T20 International cricket. Both play only in ODIs. Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja were earlier in A+. Now both are in Grade A. Shubman Gill was earlier in A and is still in A. However, he has been promoted as he has now come to the top grade. Gill is the captain of India in both ODIs and Tests.
10 players in Grade B
In addition to Rohit and Virat, Grade B includes Washington Sundar, KL Rahul, Hardik Pandya, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shreyas Iyer. Of these, Washington Sundar is the only player who regularly plays in all three formats. T20 number one batsman Abhishek Sharma and number one bowler Varun Chakravarthy are placed in Grade C. This grade includes 16 names.

The Indian women's cricket team is currently the ODI world champion. India won the tournament under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. Smriti was India's most successful batsman in the World Cup, while Jemimah scored a century in the semi-finals. Deepti was the player of the tournament. Grade B has four players: pacer Renuka Thakur, opener Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, and Sneh Rana.
Central Contract Grade A for Women Players : Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Deepti Sharma.
Grade B : Renuka Thakur, Shefali Verma, Richa Ghosh, and Sneh Rana.
Grade C : Radha Yadav, Amanjot Kaur, Pratika Rawal, Kranti Goud, Uma Chettri, Arundhati Reddy, Shri Charani, Yastika Bhatia, Harleen Deol, Kashvi Gautam, G Kamalini, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Tejal Hasabnis.
