Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited film Ramayana arrived in cinemas worldwide on November 5, 2026, and made an impressive start at the box office. The film recorded a strong opening-day collection in India, surpassing several major Bollywood releases, including Pathaan, Animal and Drishyam 3.
However, despite its impressive performance, the film could not beat the opening-day record of Prabhas’ Adipurush. The overseas collection figures are still awaited, and the film could witness further growth over the extended opening weekend.
The movie has also received an encouraging response from audiences. Its grand visual effects, elaborate sets and action sequences are among the most appreciated aspects. Many viewers have praised its cinematic scale and visual presentation.
Ramayana Box Office Collection on Day 1
According to Sacnilk estimates, Ramayana collected approximately ₹64.85 crore net at the Indian box office on its opening day, across around 25,200 shows. Its India gross collection reportedly stood at ₹77.50 crore.
Here is the reported language-wise collection:
-
Hindi: ₹47.50 crore
-
Kannada: ₹7.25 crore
-
Telugu: ₹6 crore
-
Tamil: ₹2.60 crore
-
Malayalam: ₹1.50 crore
The Hindi version contributed the largest share of the film's opening-day earnings. The overseas collection figures have not yet been reported, so the worldwide opening-day total remains awaited.
How Are Audiences Responding to Ramayana?
The film's detailed presentation of characters, grand sets and large-scale action sequences have attracted considerable attention. Audiences have particularly appreciated its visual effects and the effort put into recreating the world of the Ramayana.
The film's cinematic scale has also prompted comparisons with major Hollywood fantasy and mythological productions. Its positive initial reception could help maintain momentum during the opening weekend.
However, the coming days will be important in determining whether the film can sustain its box office performance beyond the first day.
Ramayana Beats Pathaan and Animal, But Misses Adipurush's Record
In terms of reported opening-day collections, Ramayana has surpassed several major films. Its estimated India gross collection of ₹77.50 crore is higher than the reported opening-day figures of:
-
Pathaan: ₹57 crore
-
Drishyam 3: ₹62 crore
-
Animal: ₹63 crore
Despite this achievement, the film could not cross the opening-day collection of Adipurush, which reportedly earned ₹86.50 crore. It also remained behind Dhurandhar 2, which recorded a massive opening of approximately ₹102 crore.
With an encouraging audience response and the extended weekend ahead, Ramayana has an opportunity to increase its box office earnings further. Its overseas performance and weekend collections will determine how high it can climb among the biggest opening-day and opening-weekend records in Indian cinema.
