Pulsar, Platina and Chetak Power Bajaj Auto to Record January Sales

Bajaj Auto posted a strong performance in January 2026, recording total sales of over 4.77 lakh units, marking an increase of nearly 25 per cent year-on-year. The growth was driven by steady demand across both domestic and export markets, covering motorcycles, scooters and three-wheelers.

The company benefited from continued momentum in the commuter motorcycle segment, along with improving demand for electric scooters. Compared to January 2025, sales rose across channels, underlining Bajaj Auto’s balanced presence in India and overseas markets.

Motorcycles Lead Growth

Motorcycles emerged as the largest contributor to Bajaj Auto’s January sales. Popular models such as Pulsar and Platina played a crucial role in boosting volumes in both domestic and export markets.

The Platina range continued to perform strongly in the entry-level commuter segment, which remains the most volume-driven category in the Indian two-wheeler market. Meanwhile, the Pulsar portfolio supported demand in the 125cc to 250cc segment, catering to urban customers and international buyers alike.

Chetak Strengthens Electric Scooter Portfolio

Bajaj Auto’s Chetak remained the company’s top-performing electric two-wheeler during the month. Although scooters account for a smaller share of Bajaj Auto’s overall sales compared to motorcycles, Chetak volumes showed notable growth in January.

Rising urban demand for electric mobility and expanding dealer penetration supported sales of the electric scooter. The performance highlights Bajaj Auto’s strategy to strengthen its presence in the electric vehicle segment while continuing to rely on its internal combustion engine (ICE) portfolio for scale.

Domestic and Export Performance

Domestic sales stood at approximately 2.62 lakh units, of which two-wheelers accounted for around 2.15 lakh units. Two-wheeler exports were reported at nearly 1.92 lakh units.

Both domestic and export segments recorded year-on-year growth, with exports continuing to form a significant share of overall volumes. The figures underline Bajaj Auto’s strong dependence on international markets, particularly for motorcycle sales.
