Post Office Bonus: Post Office employees receive a bonus equivalent to 60 days' salary; how much will each receive? Find out

The central government has approved a Productivity Based Bonus (PLB) for eligible employees of the Postal Department for the financial year 2025-26. According to this decision, eligible employees will receive a bonus equivalent to 60 days' salary. However, the actual amount received by each employee will be determined based on their eligible salary, length of service, and applicable regulations.

How will the bonus amount be determined?
The monthly eligible salary limit for calculating the bonus for postal employees is ₹7,000. This formula will be used to calculate the bonus.

Bonus = (Average Monthly Eligible Salary × 60) ÷ 30.4

According to this formula, if an employee's average monthly eligible salary is ₹7,000, they could receive a bonus of approximately ₹13,816. However, this is an estimated amount based on the maximum salary limit. Not all employees will receive the same bonus.

Which employees will benefit? This postal bonus scheme covers multi-tasking staff (MTS), Group C, and eligible non-gazetted Group B employees. Regular Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDS) can also receive an ex-gratia bonus, while temporary contract employees who meet certain criteria can receive an ad-hoc bonus.

What are the conditions for temporary employees?

Eligible casual employees must have completed at least three years of continuous service by March 31, 2026, and must have worked 240 days a year. For offices with a five-day work week, this limit is 206 days. For these employees, the fixed monthly salary of ₹1,200 will be considered for the calculation.

When will the bonus be received?
The Department of Posts issued an order regarding the bonus on October 16, 2026. However, according to information received, the exact date for depositing the money has not been announced. The bonus for Gramin Dak Sevaks will be determined based on their TRCA and the associated dearness allowance. Therefore, employees will have to await further instructions from the department for the final amount and deposit date.
