PM Kisan Yojana: Complete This Work Now or the 22nd Installment May Be Stopped

Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, eligible landholding farmers receive ₹6,000 per year as financial assistance. This amount is transferred directly to farmers’ bank accounts in three equal installments of ₹2,000, paid every four months. So far, 21 installments have been released, benefiting crores of farmers across the country.

However, ahead of the 22nd installment, the government has made it clear that certain formalities are mandatory. If these are not completed on time, farmers may miss out on the next payment.

When will the 22nd installment be released?

The 22nd installment has not been released as of January 2026. Based on previous schedules, it is expected in February 2026. But farmers whose records are incomplete—especially eKYC—may see their payments withheld.

eKYC is mandatory to receive the next installment

To ensure uninterrupted benefits, farmers must complete Aadhaar-based eKYC. Without this, the 22nd installment can be stopped.

How to complete eKYC online:

  1. Visit the official website: pmkisan.gov.in

  2. Go to Farmers Corner and click on eKYC

  3. Enter your Aadhaar number

  4. Submit the OTP received on your Aadhaar-linked mobile number

  5. Once verified, your eKYC status will be updated

Farmer ID may become compulsory

Before releasing the 22nd installment, the government is planning a major change. A unique Farmer ID may soon be made mandatory under PM Kisan. This ID will act as a digital identity for farmers. If this process is not completed, future installments could be delayed.

Benefits of Farmer ID

The Farmer ID system aims to simplify access to government schemes. With a single ID:

  • Fertiliser and seed subsidies can be provided accurately

  • Crop insurance claims will become easier

  • Repeated document submission for different schemes will be avoided

  • Multiple agricultural services can be accessed through one digital identity

How to apply for Farmer ID

Farmers can apply online through their state’s AgriStack portal:

  1. Complete Aadhaar-based eKYC

  2. Map land records and family details

  3. Submit the application

  4. After verification by the department, a unique Farmer ID will be issued
