PM Fasal Bima Yojana : There will be no loss due to storm, rain or hurricane, full compensation will be given through this government scheme

PM Fasal Bima Yojana: The fear of crop loss due to natural calamities is now over! This special government scheme will provide farmers with full compensation for their losses. Learn how to apply for this scheme.

Farming requires a lot of hard work. But there's no guarantee when the weather will turn sour. Sometimes a sudden storm, or sometimes unseasonal rain and floods, wipe out farmers' months of savings and hopes.

The Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) provides a shield against losses due to natural disasters. This scheme compensates farmers for the economic losses caused by natural disasters and gives them the courage to recover.

This government scheme has a wide scope. All farmers who grow notified crops can participate, whether they own their own land or are farming on a sharecropping or rent basis. If you have taken out a loan from a bank for farming, insurance is automatically included. Otherwise, you can register on your own.

Regarding crops, the government has covered almost every major crop to ensure no one is harmed. From grains and pulses to oilseeds, everything is included in this list. Furthermore, special provisions have been made for farmers engaged in commercial farming or horticulture.

The conditions for receiving compensation have been simplified, ensuring farmers receive genuine assistance. Claims are available even if bad weather prevents sowing, or if standing crops are damaged by drought, pests, or hailstorms. The government even provides assistance if crops stored in barns are damaged by cyclones or rain within 14 days of harvest.

Regarding premiums, the burden on farmers has been kept minimal, as the government pays a significant portion. For Kharif crops, you pay only 2%, and for Rabi crops, only 1.5%. For commercial or horticultural crops, the rate is set at 5%.

The application process has now become digital and easy, allowing you to complete the application from home or at a nearby center. You can fill out the form yourself by visiting the official website https://pmfby.gov.in/ or seek the help of a CSC center. Just remember, you must complete the application process within 10 days of sowing.

If, unfortunately, your crop is damaged, you must notify the insurance company within 72 hours. Government officials then visit the site to assess the damage and prepare a report. Once the paperwork is complete and the loss is confirmed, the compensation amount is transferred directly to your bank account.
