Phone Hijack Scam: A new method of fraud! Your bank account could be emptied in just one call. Learn how to avoid it

Phone Hijack Scam: Nowadays, cyber thugs are continuously targeting people by adopting new methods.

These days, cyber criminals are constantly targeting people with new methods. While frauds like digital arrests were common in the past, a new method is now rapidly spreading: phone hijacking scams. Hackers take control of your smartphone and then use your personal information to empty your bank account.

In such cases, even a small mistake, such as opening a link or paying a small amount, can lead to significant losses. In a recent case, fraudsters targeted an elderly woman. They gained her trust by posing as government officials. They then offered a simple task: downloading a file to update her name and paying a small amount.

The woman, thinking it was a routine procedure, followed the instructions. But that's when the hackers gained access to her phone. They then slowly obtained the necessary information and withdrew a large sum of money from her bank account. This entire scheme is so clever that victims often don't even realize the damage has already been done.

When a device falls under hackers' control, they gain access to sensitive information stored on it. This can include banking details, messages, OTPs, and even personal documents. They can then use this information to transfer money or commit other fraudulent acts in your name.

The key to avoiding these scams is to be vigilant. If someone you don't know sends you a link or asks you to download a file via WhatsApp, SMS, or email, be immediately cautious.

Never click on links or download apps or files without checking them thoroughly. These are often the ways malware is introduced into your phone, giving hackers access.

Additionally, always avoid sharing your OTP, PIN, or bank information with anyone. Also, don't give out personal documents unnecessarily, as they could be misused to get a SIM card issued in your name.
