He has been playing in the PSL since its inaugural season in 2016 and scored over 2,000 runs in his memorable career. He made the decision just before PSL 11, which begins on March 26. Shoaib Malik confirmed his retirement via social media.

Sharing his experience from his 10 seasons in the Pakistan Super League, he said that he has made many memories over the past 10 years, but is now saying goodbye to the league. He also stated that while he is retiring from the PSL, he will always strive for the betterment of cricket.

Shoaib Malik has been playing in the PSL since its inception in the UAE. He played for Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Multan Sultans, and Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League. He played 93 matches in his PSL career, scoring 2,350 runs. He retired as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the league's history. He also took 17 wickets with his off-spin bowling.

In his historic T20 career spanning 557 matches, he scored 13,571 runs. He has 83 half-centuries and is considered one of the greatest players in T20 cricket. He also took 187 wickets during this illustrious T20 career. Speaking of international cricket, Shoaib Malik has retired from Tests and ODIs, but he never announced his retirement from T20 cricket. He has not played a T20 match for the Pakistan team since November 2021.
