PAK vs BAN: Pakistan Records Lowest ODI Total Against Bangladesh as Debutants Struggle

Hingona, Rajasthan: The Pakistan national cricket team suffered a major batting collapse in the first ODI against the Bangladesh national cricket team, registering their lowest-ever ODI total against Bangladesh.

The match, played at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, saw Pakistan bundled out for just 114 runs in 30.4 overs after opting to bat first.

27-Year-Old Record Broken

This total of 114 runs is now Pakistan’s lowest score against Bangladesh in One Day International cricket.

Their previous lowest score against Bangladesh was 161 runs, which they made back in 1999. With the latest collapse, that 27-year-old record has now been broken.

Debutants Fail to Impress

Pakistan handed ODI debuts to four players in this match, but none of them could make a significant impact.

  • Sahibzada Farhan – 27 runs

  • Maaz Sadaqat – 18 runs

  • Shamim Hossain – 4 runs

  • Abdul Samad – 0 runs

Farhan and Sadaqat opened the innings but failed to convert their starts into big scores. Shamim Hossain, who came in at number three in place of Babar Azam, struggled and managed only four runs. Abdul Samad could not open his account despite facing six deliveries.

Nahid Rana Destroys Pakistan’s Top Order

Bangladesh pacer Nahid Rana delivered a stunning spell, dismissing all three of Pakistan’s top-order debutants. He finished with five wickets, emerging as the standout performer of the match.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz supported him well by taking three wickets.

Pakistan’s Batting Collapse

Pakistan’s batting lineup struggled to build partnerships throughout the innings:

  • Highest partnership: 41 runs (opening stand)

  • Second notable stand: 32 runs for the 10th wicket

No pair managed to register even a half-century partnership, highlighting the team’s poor batting performance.

Bangladesh in Strong Position

With Pakistan dismissed for just 114, Bangladesh gained a strong advantage in the opening ODI of the series. The match also highlighted the impact of Nahid Rana’s bowling and the challenges faced by Pakistan’s inexperienced batting lineup.
