Londoners were surprised on Sunday morning, January 11th, to see many passengers on the London Underground wearing formal or winter clothing but no trousers. Despite the bitter cold, men and women calmly went about their daily routines, reading books, smiling quietly, and heading to their destinations wearing only underwear from the waist down.

Photos of this bizarre sight quickly surfaced on social media and went viral. The photos showed passengers dressed in office-appropriate suits, coats, ties, and even fur hats, along with leather shoes or boots—all while wearing nothing but underwear on their lower bodies. The scene was part of an annual event called "No Trousers Tube Day," a tradition that has been observed in London for more than ten years. On this day, participants deliberately travel in their underwear, without trousers.

Although London has adopted this event since 2010, the trend began in New York in 2002 and later spread to cities around the world. Despite Britain's reputation as a conservative society, this event has become a regular and eagerly awaited annual event in the capital.

Participants say the purpose of No Trouser Tube Day is to break the monotony of everyday life and provide a "visual shock." The celebration is not intended to be vulgar or obscene. Therefore, there are some unspoken rules for those participating. For example, it's best to avoid eye contact with anyone.
