India’s compact SUV space is about to get more competitive, as the updated version of one of the country’s best-selling models is reportedly in development. The upcoming 2026 Maruti Suzuki Brezza facelift has been spotted testing multiple times, revealing key hints about major upgrades in design, safety, features, and performance.
If these updates make it to production, the new model could pose serious competition to rivals like Tata and Mahindra in the highly contested SUV segment.
Advanced Safety with ADAS Expected
One of the most significant upgrades could come in the form of advanced safety technology. Test mules of the SUV have reportedly shown a radar module integrated into the front grille, indicating the possible addition of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
ADAS features are designed to enhance road safety by assisting drivers in avoiding collisions and responding to potential hazards. Several rivals in the segment, including Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and Mahindra XUV 3XO, already offer such technology.
Engine Options May Get a Boost
The upcoming Brezza facelift may also see improvements under the hood. Reports suggest the possibility of a new 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine, similar to the one used in Maruti Suzuki Fronx. This engine is expected to produce around 100 PS of power and 147.6 Nm of torque, potentially making the SUV more responsive and fun to drive.
Alongside this, the existing 1.5-litre petrol engine is likely to continue, along with the CNG variant.
A notable update in the CNG version could be an underbody CNG tank design, which may free up boot space and improve practicality.
More Premium Features on the Inside
The 2026 Brezza is expected to receive a major interior upgrade, making it more premium and tech-loaded than before. Anticipated features include:
-
Larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system
-
Head-up display (HUD)
-
Wireless smartphone charging
-
Ventilated front seats
-
360-degree camera system
-
Panoramic sunroof
-
Updated seat upholstery and interior trims
These additions could significantly improve comfort and convenience for both drivers and passengers.
Stronger Competition in the Segment
With these expected upgrades, the new Brezza will continue competing in one of India’s most crowded SUV segments, going up against models such as Tata Nexon, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, and Skoda Kylaq.
Final Outlook
If Maruti Suzuki brings all these rumored changes to production, the 2026 Brezza facelift could emerge as a more premium, safer, and performance-focused compact SUV. While pricing is expected to increase slightly, it may still aim to remain competitive and value-driven in its segment.
