Nepal is preparing to crack down on Gen-Z movement leaders Balen Shah and Sudan Gurung, here are the allegations

Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and youth leader Sudan Gurung are accused of burning down Singha Durbar and treason. A complaint has been filed against both of them with the Kathmandu police. The police are preparing to refer it to an investigation committee. An FIR was also filed against former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli a day earlier.

Another case has been filed against Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah and Sudan Gurung, a 36-year-old leader of the Gen-Z youth movement. Both are accused of burning down Singha Durbar. Gurung heads the organization Hami Nepal, which mobilized the crowds during the protests in Nepal on September 8-9. The complaint accuses both of them of treason.

Kathmandu police said the complaint against Mayor Shah and Gurung was filed by Yuvraj Poudel, also known as Yuvraj Safal, an active social activist and political analyst in Nepal. Police are preparing to submit the complaint to the committee formed to investigate the incidents of September 8th and 9th.

There was a complaint a day earlier as well.

On Tuesday, the All Nepal National Independent Students Union (ANNFSU), an affiliate of the CPN-UML, also filed a complaint against Mayor Shah and Gurung. Police are also planning to forward this complaint to an investigation committee. ANNFSU has stated that it will contact the interim government and provide videos and photos for the investigation. In fact, on September 9, protesters set fire to Nepal's Parliament, Singha Durbar, the Supreme Court, and other locations.

FIR also against former PM of Nepal

Just a day ago, an FIR was filed against former Nepal PM KP Sharma Oli. Gen-Z youth have blamed Oli and former Home Minister Ramesh Lekhar for the deaths during the violence. 76 people were killed in the Nepal violence. The movement began to protest corruption and demand the lifting of the ban on social media. On the first day, youth demonstrated peacefully, but police opened fire without warning.

On the second day, the protests grew more violent, with several government offices set on fire. The violence and growing youth anger forced Oli to resign as Prime Minister. Now, activists of the Gen-Z movement are demanding that those responsible for the state-sponsored violence be punished and brought to justice.
