In a major action against alleged irregularities in LPG distribution, the administration in Moradabad conducted a late-night raid on a gas agency warehouse and sealed it after finding serious discrepancies in stock and documentation.
The surprise inspection was carried out by the District Supply Officer (DSO) Ajay Pratap Singh along with his team at the warehouse of Bhavana Bharat Gas Agency located in Thakurdwara. The late-night raid created panic among gas distributors in the area.
Action After Complaints of Black Marketing
According to officials, the administration had been receiving complaints for a long time about irregularities and possible black marketing of LPG cylinders by the agency. It was alleged that cylinders were being diverted and sold at prices higher than the government-approved rates.
During the inspection, officials asked the agency operators to produce booking slips and records from the past three days. However, the operators reportedly failed to present the required documents, raising suspicion about the agency’s operations.
Discrepancy Found in Small Cylinder Stock
During physical verification of the warehouse, officials also noticed a shortage of 5-kg small LPG cylinders compared to the stock mentioned in the records. When questioned about the missing cylinders, the agency operator reportedly claimed that the delivery vehicle had suffered a puncture and was delayed.
Officials said the explanation was unsatisfactory, and the mismatch between records and actual stock was treated as a serious irregularity.
Warehouse Sealed, Fresh Inspection Planned
Due to the lack of proper documentation and discrepancies in stock records, the administration immediately sealed the warehouse.
District Supply Officer Ajay Pratap Singh stated that the agency failed to match the booking slips with the available stock. He added that because the inspection took place at night and proper lighting was not available, a detailed physical verification of the entire stock will be conducted again the next morning in the presence of witnesses.
Strict Action Possible
Officials have made it clear that if the next inspection also reveals irregularities in stock or documents, strict legal and departmental action will be taken against the agency operator.
The raid has also sent a strong message to other LPG distributors in the district, as the administration continues its crackdown on alleged black marketing and supply irregularities in the gas distribution system.
