Maruti Suzuki Sells Over 7,200 Cars Daily, Sets New Sales Record in March

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer, reported strong sales performance in March 2026, registering a year-on-year growth of around 5 percent. The company sold a total of 225,251 units during the month, up from 192,984 units in March last year.

This translates to an average of 7,266 cars sold per day, underscoring the brand’s continued dominance in the Indian automobile market.

Growth Driven by Domestic and Export Demand
Domestic sales remained the primary growth driver, with 169,428 units sold within India. Exports also recorded a significant rise, reaching 47,040 units during the month. Additionally, Maruti Suzuki supplied 8,783 units to other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs).

Strong Full-Year Performance
For the financial year 2025–26, the company recorded total sales of 2,422,713 units, marking a growth of about 3 percent compared to the previous year. Notably, this is the third consecutive year that Maruti Suzuki has crossed the 2 million sales milestone.

Exports Hit Record High
Exports emerged as a major highlight of FY26. The company shipped 447,774 units overseas, reflecting a robust growth of approximately 34 percent year-on-year. With this achievement, Maruti Suzuki retained its position as India’s largest passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth straight year.

Popular Segments Fuel Demand
The growth was largely driven by strong demand for compact cars and entry-level SUVs. Updated models and new launches have gained traction, particularly in smaller cities and among fleet buyers.

Looking ahead, the company is also focusing on expanding its presence in the electric vehicle segment. Upcoming models such as the e-Vitara are expected to further boost both domestic sales and exports.
