Singer-turned-politician Maithili Thakur has registered a significant victory from the Alinagar constituency. Contesting as the BJP candidate, she secured 84,915 votes after 25 rounds of counting. RJD candidate Binod Mishra, backed by Tejashwi Yadav, finished second with 73,185 votes, trailing by 11,730 votes. Although the results are clear, the Election Commission is yet to issue the official declaration.
Prashant Kishor’s party candidate, Biplab Kumar Chaudhary, remained far behind in the race, managing only 2,275 votes.
During the counting process, Maithili Thakur expressed her gratitude and shared her first reaction. She said, “It feels like a dream. People have high expectations from me. This is my first term as an MLA, and I will give my best to serve Alinagar. I will work for my constituency the way a daughter supports her own family.”
Speaking about her priorities, she added, “I will ensure that every scheme promised in our manifesto actually reaches the people. Often, government schemes fail to reach beneficiaries. I want to change that. I will fulfill every promise in the next five years.”
