Mahesh Babu's 'Varanasi' Set Video Leaks Online; Rajamouli's Biggest Concern Becomes Reality

S.S. Rajamouli's upcoming epic Varanasi continues to be one of the most anticipated Indian films in production. Starring Mahesh Babu in the lead role, alongside Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran, the big-budget spectacle has remained under tight security since filming began. However, despite the makers' efforts to prevent spoilers, a behind-the-scenes video from the film's set has surfaced online, sparking widespread discussion among fans.

The leaked clip, which has been widely shared across social media platforms, offers a brief glimpse of Mahesh Babu filming what appears to be an intense action sequence. The actor is seen sporting a rugged look with blood visible on his forehead as he walks into a body of water on a grand set designed to resemble Varanasi. Several Shivlings can also be seen placed around the set, while crew members are spotted assisting the actor between takes by adjusting his costume and makeup.

The video, reportedly around 25 seconds long, quickly went viral before the production team began taking copyright action to remove it from online platforms. Although many versions have since been taken down, the clip had already been widely circulated, raising fresh concerns over set security.

According to reports, Varanasi is being mounted on an estimated budget of around ₹1,200 crore, making it one of the most expensive Indian films ever produced. The film has reportedly completed nearly 80 percent of its shoot. Rajamouli has previously revealed that footage is sent to the editing team immediately after filming to streamline post-production and ensure the project remains on schedule.

Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays the primary antagonist, has reportedly completed filming his portions, while the remaining schedules are focused largely on Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. The next phase of production is expected to continue at Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City.

The latest leak has disappointed many fans, with several taking to social media to request that unreleased footage not be shared and urging stronger security measures on the film's sets. Despite the setback, excitement surrounding Varanasi remains high, especially with Mahesh Babu's birthday approaching, as fans continue to hope for an official teaser or first-look update from the makers.

So far, the production team has not issued an official statement regarding the leaked footage. As filming progresses, audiences will now be waiting for Rajamouli to unveil the film's first official glimpse rather than relying on unofficial behind-the-scenes clips.
