A bribery investigation in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district has uncovered assets worth approximately ₹5.16 crore allegedly linked to a senior district council officer. The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) conducted searches at the officer’s residence and bank locker after he was caught in a case involving a ₹10,000 bribe for clearing a road construction bill worth ₹10 lakh.
The officer, identified as Satish Mansulal Shisode (55), serves as a Class-1 Sub-Divisional Officer in the district council’s construction department. During the searches, officials reportedly recovered more than 2.5 kg of gold, over 11 kg of silver, platinum jewellery, cash and property documents relating to two houses.
According to the complaint, the bribe was demanded in exchange for approving a ₹10 lakh road concreting bill for work carried out in Pimpri Khurd village of Dharangaon taluka. The initial demand was reportedly ₹15,000, which was later settled at ₹10,000.
How Did the ACB Catch the Two Officials?
On November 2, 2026, the Anti-Corruption Bureau laid a trap and allegedly caught junior engineer Bhagwat Vasant Chaware (32) accepting ₹10,000 from the complainant and handing the money over to Sub-Divisional Officer Satish Shisode.
Following the operation, a case was registered against both officials at District Peth Police Station under Sections 7 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The investigation subsequently expanded, with ACB officials searching the senior officer’s residence and bank locker to examine his financial assets.
Gold, Silver and Property Worth Crores Recovered
The searches reportedly revealed assets with a combined estimated value of ₹5,16,88,389. The recovered property was divided into two major categories.

The total estimated value of the assets recovered from the residence was approximately ₹1.41 crore.

The total estimated value of the recovered assets stands at ₹5.16 crore, making the discovery a significant development in the ACB investigation.
ACB Investigating Possible Disproportionate Assets
Following the recovery, the ACB is examining how the officer allegedly accumulated assets of such substantial value compared with his known sources of income.
Investigators are scrutinising salary records, bank transactions, property investments and jewellery purchase documents. The agency is also examining the financial records to establish whether the assets are disproportionate to the officer’s known income.
The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action may follow depending on the findings. The case has once again brought attention to the role of anti-corruption agencies in investigating alleged bribery and unexplained wealth among government officials.
