Maharaja Trophy 2025: Shreyas Gopal’s Mangaluru Dragons Clinch Maiden Title, Beat Hubli Tigers in Rain-Hit Final

The Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2025 concluded with Mangaluru Dragons, led by captain Shreyas Gopal, lifting their first-ever title after defeating Devdutt Padikkal’s Hubli Tigers in a rain-affected final at the Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar Stadium in Mysuru. The Dragons secured a 14-run victory via the VJD method, denying the Hubli Tigers a second championship after their 2023 triumph.

Batting first, the Hubli Tigers struggled to post a competitive total. Captain Devdutt Padikkal departed early for just 10 runs, and despite a gritty half-century from Krishnan Sreejith (52 off 45 balls), the team could only manage 154 runs for eight wickets in 20 overs. Mohammad Taha contributed 27 runs, but regular wickets halted their momentum. For Mangaluru, Sachin Shinde was the star with the ball, claiming three wickets for 28 runs, while McNeil Noronha and Shrivatsa Acharya picked up two each.

In response, the Dragons came out firing. Openers Lochan Gowda and Sharat BR stitched together a rapid 55-run stand, with Sharat leading the charge with a quickfire 49 off 35 balls, including four fours and three sixes. At 85 for two in 10.4 overs, rain interrupted play, and with the Dragons ahead of the required target by 15 runs, they were declared winners under the VJD method.

This historic win marked Mangaluru Dragons’ maiden Maharaja Trophy triumph, while the Hubli Tigers were left ruing the weather as their hopes of reclaiming the title were washed away.
