A deadly stabbing incident shocked Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, early Sunday morning when a young man lost his life following a quarrel over a shared female friend. Police have arrested the main accused, Gopi Yadav, and a juvenile involved in the crime.
The incident took place around 4 a.m. near Teen Puliya. Lakhan alias Lucky (24) of Sammati Nagar was walking towards the railway station with friends Aryan and Aman when they crossed paths with Gopi Yadav and his companion. An old rivalry quickly escalated into a physical fight. Gopi borrowed a knife from the juvenile and stabbed Lakhan in the leg. Lakhan was rushed to the district hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Kotwali police have registered a case under several IPC sections, including Sections 103(2) and 3(5). Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar Rai praised the swift action that led to the arrests and confirmed both accused confessed to the crime.
Gopi Yadav (29), from Jawaharganj Badabam, is a notorious history-sheeter with more than 25 cases under theft, robbery, dacoity, and Arms Act against him. He was recently released after serving a seven-year sentence for robbery.
Connection to the Same Girl Fuels Conflict
It emerged that Gopi and Aman have a history of conflicts, both connected to the same girl. This rivalry angered Aman, who was with Lakhan during the incident. During the argument, Gopi’s juvenile companion handed him a knife. Aman fled the scene while Gopi stabbed Lakhan.
Deceased’s Companion Has Criminal Cases
Aman, a resident of Khanshahwali, who was with Lakhan, also faces several criminal charges and was recently jailed under Crime No. 243/2025 at Moghat Road Police Station.
