Amid the evolving situation in Iran following the recent US military action and subsequent ceasefire announcement, the Government of India has issued a fresh advisory urging all Indian nationals in Iran to leave the country at the earliest.
Embassy Urges Immediate Departure
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has advised citizens to exit Iran as soon as possible, stressing that they should strictly follow routes recommended by the embassy. This directive comes as a follow-up to an earlier advisory issued on April 7, reflecting continued concerns over safety in the region.
Strict Warning Against Independent Travel
The advisory clearly warns Indian citizens not to attempt crossing international borders on their own without prior consultation with the embassy. Officials have emphasized that uncoordinated movement could pose serious risks given the uncertain security environment.
Emergency Support in Place
To assist citizens, the embassy has shared multiple emergency helpline numbers and an official email contact. Indians in Iran have been urged to stay in constant touch with embassy authorities for guidance on safe evacuation procedures.
Emergency Helpline Numbers:
- +98 912 810 9115
- +98 912 810 9102
- +98 912 810 9109
- +98 993 217 9359
Earlier Advisory: Stay Indoors
In its April 7 advisory, issued after warnings of possible large-scale military escalation, the embassy had instructed Indian nationals to:
- Remain indoors for 48 hours
- Avoid military and sensitive installations
- Stay away from higher floors of buildings
- Limit movement and follow official instructions
Those staying in embassy-arranged accommodations were specifically asked to remain in their rooms and maintain regular contact with officials.
Situation Still Volatile
Despite the ceasefire announcement, the situation in the region remains fluid. The Indian government has reiterated that it is closely monitoring developments, and citizens are advised to regularly check for updates and remain in contact with the embassy.
