Jaipur Weather Update: Pink City Jaipur battling dense fog and cold wave, what is the IMD alert?

Dense fog and a cold wave continue in Rajasthan. Visibility dropped below 50 meters in several districts, including Jaipur and Sikar. The International Monetary Fund (IMD) has issued a cold day and fog warning for four districts. Cold conditions are expected to persist for the next three to five days.

Rajasthan Weather Update: Severe cold, cold wave and dense to very dense fog are continuously causing problems in most parts including the capital Jaipur. In many districts like Jaipur, Sikar, Kota, Bundi, the situation was so bad in the morning that visibility was recorded less than 50 meters. At many places, the situation was almost like zero visibility, due to which road traffic and normal life were badly affected. According to IMD Jaipur scientist Radheshyam Sharma, dense fog has been prevailing in the state for the last 2-3 days, due to which a drop of 5 to 8 degrees Celsius is being recorded in the day temperature.

Why is there so much dense fog in and around Jaipur?

The capital, Jaipur, remained shrouded in dense fog for the second consecutive day on Wednesday morning. According to the Meteorological Department, the fog is preventing the fog from clearing quickly due to extremely low wind speeds and high humidity. The fog is blocking sunlight, making it feel cold even during the day.

Why is there “bone-chilling cold” in Sikar?

Sikar is at the forefront of Rajasthan's coldest regions. In the past 24 hours, Sikar recorded a minimum temperature of 4.5 degrees Celsius, creating extremely difficult conditions for the general public. Furthermore, Sirohi recorded a minimum temperature of 4.7 degrees Celsius, Phalodi 5.8 degrees Celsius, Ajmer 5.9 degrees Celsius, and Alwar 6.1 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for a cold day and dense fog in Bundi, Karauli, Kota, and Sawai Madhopur districts on Thursday. Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 18.5 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 6.3 degrees Celsius.
