IPL 2026 Could Mark the End for Three Kolkata Knight Riders Veterans

As IPL 2026 approaches, discussions around potential retirements are gaining momentum, and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could see the end of the road for some of their seasoned campaigners. While much of the spotlight remains on MS Dhoni, three KKR stars—Sunil Narine, Ajinkya Rahane, and Manish Pandey—are also facing uncertain futures, with this season possibly being their last in the league.

Sunil Narine, one of KKR’s most influential players, has been a cornerstone of the franchise since 2012. A key figure in their title-winning campaigns, Narine’s all-round contributions have defined KKR’s success over the years. However, at 37 and with nearly 190 IPL matches under his belt, questions around his longevity have emerged, making IPL 2026 a potential farewell season.

Ajinkya Rahane, currently leading KKR, also finds himself at a crossroads. Despite a decent individual performance last season, where he scored 390 runs, the team struggled overall. Given his age and the increasing competition from younger players, Rahane’s continuation beyond this season appears uncertain.

Manish Pandey, another experienced name, is also nearing the twilight of his IPL journey. One of the few players to have featured in every IPL season, Pandey has had limited opportunities in recent years, playing only a handful of matches. At 36, and with KKR focusing on fresh talent, IPL 2026 is widely expected to be his final appearance.

With the league constantly evolving and new talent emerging, this season could mark a transition phase for KKR, as it potentially bids farewell to some of its long-serving stars.
