Instagram Security Feature for chats : How to completely lock Instagram chats without any third-party app, learn how
We often send personal messages (DMs) to friends and significant others on Instagram, one of the most widely used social media apps. Therefore, whenever someone else uses our phone, there's always the fear of our personal Instagram chats being leaked.
To avoid this fear, many people download questionable 'app locks' from the Google Play Store, which drain your phone's battery and pose privacy risks. However, Instagram now has built-in security features that allow you to lock your chats and the entire app without the need for any external apps.
How to turn on App Lock and Chat Security on Instagram?
If you want to protect your Instagram with a fingerprint or PIN, follow these simple steps:
Use phone settings (App Lock):
Go to Settings on your smartphone.
Click on the Apps or Security & Privacy section.
Select App Lock option and set your fingerprint, pattern or password.
In the list of apps below, turn on the button next to Instagram. Now no one else will be able to access your Instagram.
Use Vanish Mode:
If you want to keep a particular chat completely private, open that person's chat window.
Swipe up from the bottom of the screen.
This will turn on Vanish Mode. Messages or photos sent in this mode will automatically disappear as soon as the other person sees them and closes the chat.
Quiet Mode And Message Control:
Go to Instagram Settings and turn on Notifications > Quiet Mode.
With this, notifications of messages coming during the specified time will not be visible on your home screen, so that no one else will be able to read your messages.
