A shocking breach of trust has rocked Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon’s family. The Juhu police have arrested a 47-year-old woman, identified as Rashi Chhabria, for allegedly stealing gold and diamond jewellery, along with luxury watches, worth approximately ₹25 lakh from the residence of the actress's 84-year-old mother, Veena Tandon.

Over Four Years of Misplaced Trust

According to police reports, the accused had been closely associated with the Tandon family since 2020. Over the years, Chhabria won the family’s complete confidence. She frequently visited their Juhu residence to look after the elderly Veena Tandon and occasionally cook for her.

Because of this deep-seated trust, Chhabria was given unrestricted access to the house, including the highly restricted second floor—a privilege denied to almost all other household staff.

The Confrontation and Confession

The crime came to light when the family noticed that two expensive watches and highly valuable gold and diamond ornaments were missing from the home safe.

• The Initial Denial: When Raveena’s brother, Rajiv Tandon, initially questioned the staff regarding the missing valuables, Chhabria vehemently denied any involvement.

• The Police Intervention: Refusing to let the matter drop, the family immediately lodged a formal complaint. It was only after the Juhu police intervened and began their interrogation that Chhabria cracked, ultimately confessing to breaking into the locker and stealing the items.

Current Investigation Status

Police Action: Rashi Chhabria has been officially arrested and placed in custody.

Recovery Progress: While the police have successfully confiscated some of the stolen luxury watches, the search to recover the remaining gold and diamond jewellery is currently underway.

The Juhu police are continuing their thorough investigation into the matter to trace where the remaining stolen goods may have been hidden or sold.
