India’s fastest-selling EV: MG Windsor crosses 50,000 sales in just 400 days, averages 125 buyers a day

JSW MG Motor India has achieved a significant milestone with its popular electric car, the MG Windsor. The company announced that the EV has crossed 50,000 sales within just about 400 days of launch. Considering that production started in October 2024, reaching this figure so quickly highlights how rapidly customers in India are adopting the Windsor. With an average of 125 units sold every day, it has become the fastest-selling four-wheeler electric vehicle in the country, standing strong against rivals from Tata and Mahindra.

Stronger range and performance
MG recently introduced the Windsor EV Pro variant, aimed at buyers seeking longer range and better battery performance. It comes equipped with a 52.9kWh LFP battery pack that delivers an ARAI-certified range of 449 km. This is a big step up from the standard model’s 38kWh battery, which offers a range of 332 km. Despite the increase in range, the Pro variant continues with the same 136hp power output and 200Nm torque, ensuring a smooth and familiar driving feel. The car remains a front-wheel-drive EV.

Charging convenience
The Windsor EV Pro supports both AC and DC charging. Using a 7.4kW AC charger, the battery can be fully charged in around 9.5 hours. With 60kW DC fast charging, the battery can go from 20 percent to 80 percent in just 50 minutes, adding to its practicality for long-distance or daily use.

Design updates
While MG hasn’t made major exterior changes, the SUV now gets premium-looking 18-inch alloy wheels. Design elements such as connected LED lightbars at the front and rear, a split-headlight setup, flush door handles, and its unique MPV-hatchback-inspired shape continue to give it a distinctive look. The Pro variant is available in three new colors: Celadon Blue, Glaze Red, and Aurora Silver. Boot space is slightly reduced to 579 liters from the standard model’s 604 liters.

Interior upgrades and new features
The cabin now features a beige interior theme, replacing the all-black theme of the standard model. The Windsor EV Pro also includes V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) and V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) capabilities, allowing it to power external devices and even charge other EVs. Additional highlights include Level 2 ADAS, a powered tailgate, and several comfort-focused upgrades that enhance the overall ownership experience.
