Indian Motorcycles Gain Global Fans, Set New Export Record in 2025

The year 2025 was historic for the Indian automobile industry, not just for cars but also for motorcycles. Motorcycle exports from India surged by 27% compared to 2024, reaching an all-time high of 4.3 million units, setting a new record since the pandemic.

Growth Over the Years

Before the pandemic, motorcycle exports were growing steadily, reaching 3.1 million units in 2019. The global trade slowdown in 2020 caused a brief dip, but exports quickly rebounded, surpassing pre-pandemic levels in 2021. By 2025, exports had climbed to record levels, reflecting India's growing presence in global markets.

Top Markets Abroad

Indian motorcycles have found strong demand in Latin America, with Colombia and Brazil leading the way. Africa, particularly Nigeria, also emerged as a key market, while Asian countries like Nepal and the Philippines contributed to further growth.

Major Export Players

Two companies dominated the export scene:

  • Bajaj Auto: 43% of total motorcycle exports, increasing from 1.6 million units in 2024 to 1.9 million in 2025.

  • TVS Motor: 29% share, rising from 0.9 million units to 1.3 million units.

Together, Bajaj and TVS accounted for 72% of India’s motorcycle exports, showcasing the global appeal of Indian two-wheelers.

With this record-breaking performance, Indian motorcycles are now firmly riding on the global map, gaining fans far beyond the subcontinent.
