Team India also set a world record for the highest successful run chase in T20Is at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. West Indies scored 195 runs while batting first, and in response, India achieved this target with 4 balls remaining. This is the sixth time in the history of the T20 World Cup that India has made it to the semi-finals.

When Suryakumar Yadav, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan failed, Sanju Samson took charge and played a historic innings of 97. Samson hit 12 fours and four sixes in this historic innings.

World record for the biggest chase

India achieved the target of 196 runs against the West Indies, setting a record for the highest run chase at Eden Gardens. Previously, the highest T20 run chase at Eden Gardens in Kolkata was 158 runs, also set by the Indian team against the West Indies.

India's victory was also aided by small innings from captain Suryakumar Yadav to Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma, but the one player who remained on the pitch from start to finish was Sanju Samson.

Those two fours by Shivam Dubey did the job

India needed 17 runs in the last two overs. Hardik Pandya was dismissed for 17 off the second ball of the 19th over. The situation was becoming difficult, but then Shivam Dube came in and hit two fours in three balls. These fours not only relieved the pressure on Sanju Samson but also prevented the West Indies from making a comeback in the match.
