India to Host the Commonwealth Games 2030: India has unveiled a groundbreaking vision for the 2030 Games, which will be centered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

India Host the Commonwealth Games 2030: Commonwealth Sport has officially confirmed Ahmedabad as the host of the Ahmedabad 2030 Commonwealth Games. The decision confirms that the world's most populous nation will host this landmark edition of the Games, after delegates from 74 Commonwealth Member States and Territories approved India's bid at the Commonwealth Sport General Assembly in Glasgow today. India presented a compelling vision for the 2030 Games, centred in the Gujarati city of Ahmedabad, which will build on the foundation laid by Glasgow 2026, allowing India to celebrate its centenary in style.

Shortly after Ahmedabad was announced as the host of the 2030 Commonwealth Games, 20 Garba dancers and 30 Indian drummers stormed the General Assembly Hall and surprised delegates with a captivating cultural performance, showcasing the heritage and pride that athletes and fans can expect from a Games hosted in the Indian state of Gujarat. Garba is a dance that originated in Gujarat, and the performance featured members of Glasgow's Indian community and people from other parts of the Commonwealth. It showcased both diversity and unity in movement, marking the journey from Glasgow 2026 to the Centenary Edition of the Commonwealth Games.

The first Commonwealth Games were held in Hamilton, Canada, in 1930. At the most recent Games in Birmingham, England, in 2022, Australia topped the medal table, with England, Canada, India, and New Zealand completing the top five.

Commonwealth Sport President Dr Donald Rukare said: "This marks the beginning of a new era for Commonwealth Sport. After 'Games Diwali', we head to Glasgow 2026 in great shape to welcome 74 Commonwealth teams, and then set our sights on Ahmedabad 2030 for a special Commonwealth Games century production.

"India brings with it scale, youth, ambition, rich culture, tremendous sporting passion and relevance, and I am pleased to report that there is strong interest from many countries to host the 2034 Games and beyond. We are starting our next century for the Commonwealth Games in good health."

Dr. P.T. Usha, President of the Commonwealth Games Association of India, said: "We are deeply honored by the trust shown by Commonwealth Sport. The 2030 Games will not only celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Commonwealth movement, but will also lay the foundation for the next century. It will bring together athletes, communities, and cultures from across the Commonwealth in a spirit of friendship and progress."
