India secured their fifth consecutive T20 series win in Australia by defeating the hosts 2-1. The fifth and final match, held at Brisbane’s Gabba on November 8th, was abandoned after just 4.5 overs due to heavy rain and lightning. During the brief innings, openers Shubman Gill and Abhishek Sharma set a blazing tone with a 52-run partnership without loss, showcasing aggressive and explosive batting. Gill scored 29 runs off 16 balls, while Abhishek contributed 23 runs off 13 balls.
Post-match, Abhishek Sharma expressed that their partnership is more like "fire and fire" rather than the usual "fire and ice" description, highlighting their aggressive batting style and long-standing synergy since their Under-12 days.
India’s captain Suryakumar Yadav also revealed there is a friendly competition between Gill and Abhishek to match each other's strike rates, which pushed both players to perform at a rapid pace throughout the series. Overall, Abhishek posted a strike rate of 161 in the series, higher than Gill’s 136, underscoring their attacking approach.
This series victory boosts India’s confidence ahead of upcoming international competitions, reinforcing their dominance in T20 cricket against Australia on foreign soil.
