Arshdeep Singh, Anshul Kamboj and Gurnur Brar Demolish New Zealand's Batting

The first ODI, played on Wednesday, November 4, was initially delayed by 10 minutes because of rain. Once the match began, India's fast bowlers immediately put pressure on the New Zealand batting lineup.

Arshdeep Singh led the attack with an impressive spell of 4 wickets for 70 runs. He provided India with an early breakthrough by dismissing two batters during the powerplay.

Anshul Kamboj also delivered an economical performance, finishing with figures of 2/22 in 10 overs. Gurnur Brar contributed three wickets for 44 runs, ensuring that New Zealand struggled to build partnerships.

Brar also impressed in the field with a spectacular one-handed catch.

Rohit Sharma contributed with an important run-out, leaving New Zealand struggling at 97/5. Kamboj then continued to trouble the opposition, picking up two wickets in successive overs. Virat Kohli also produced a brilliant one-handed catch during the fielding effort.

Glenn Phillips attempted to keep New Zealand's innings alive, but received limited support from the other batters.

Number 11 batter Blair Tickner provided some late entertainment by hitting four sixes, including three in Arshdeep Singh's over. However, the lower-order resistance was not enough, and New Zealand were eventually bowled out for 185 runs.

Virat Kohli's Attacking Half-Century Changes the Match

India's chase did not begin as expected. Rohit Sharma was dismissed for a duck in the opening over, giving New Zealand an early opportunity to put pressure on the visitors.

However, Virat Kohli and captain Shubman Gill steadied the innings with an important partnership.

Gill played a relatively cautious innings, scoring 37 runs, while Kohli continued to attack the New Zealand bowlers with confidence.

Kohli reached his half-century in just 35 balls, registering his 80th ODI fifty. He eventually scored 74 runs from 51 deliveries, striking boundaries regularly and keeping India's chase on track.

The partnership between Kohli and Gill produced 113 runs, putting India in a commanding position.

Rain Interrupts the Match Twice

Weather conditions affected the contest, with rain causing two interruptions.

Following the revised playing conditions, India's target was reduced to 143 runs in 32 overs.

Although India lost four additional wickets during the chase, including Gill and Kohli, the required target was not particularly challenging by that stage.

The remaining batters ensured that there was no major collapse, and India completed the chase in the 23rd over with five wickets remaining.

India Take an Early Lead in the ODI Series

India's victory in Auckland was built on a strong bowling performance followed by a crucial batting contribution from Virat Kohli.

Arshdeep Singh's four wickets, Gurnur Brar's three breakthroughs and Anshul Kamboj's economical spell restricted New Zealand to a manageable total.
