Team India closed out the ODI series in style with a dominant 9-wicket win over Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). Although Australia sealed the series 2–1, the final match belonged entirely to Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who produced a masterclass in batting to cap off the tour on a high note.
‘RO-KO’ Masterclass in Sydney
Chasing 237 runs, India’s chase looked effortless as Rohit Sharma (121)* and Virat Kohli (74)* forged a massive 168-run partnership, guiding the team home in just 39 overs.
-
Rohit brought up his 33rd ODI century—his sixth on Australian soil.
-
Kohli, after two consecutive ducks earlier in the series, silenced critics with his 75th ODI fifty.
Skipper Shubman Gill contributed a quick 24 runs, helping India get off to a flying start before Rohit and Kohli took full control of the chase. Their chemistry and precision reminded fans of their peak partnership days, marking their 19th century stand in ODIs.
Harshit Rana Sparks the Turnaround
Before the batting brilliance, it was young pacer Harshit Rana who set the tone. The Delhi speedster delivered his best spell in Indian colours, taking 4 wickets for 39 runs to dismantle Australia’s middle order.
Australia, after a strong 61-run opening stand between Travis Head (29) and Mitchell Marsh (41), lost momentum as Harshit and Washington Sundar (2/44) struck in quick succession. Matthew Renshaw (56) tried to steady the innings, but Australia were bowled out for 237 in 47 overs.
